A little ingenuity, a little creativity, and a lot of tolerance for extra crumbs means a fun snacktime
Being a mom means being adaptable.
Usually, for snacks, my daughters sit at their kids' table. Today, though, they asked to have a "picnic." That means that they sit on the floor, either inside or outside on our breezeway, and they get some of their play dishes and have a more rugged-style snack.
People with strict rules about where the kids can eat might cringe, but I have actually derived a lot of pleasure watching the girls set up their picnic spots. Some days the picnic is very elaborate, complete with play food and many utensils and dishes.
Today's selection was simple: just a plate to set their cups on, plus a paper animal plate to set their blueberry muffins on.
A picnic might mean spilled drinks, extra crumbs to clean up, or even some squashed muffin underfoot (and ground into the carpet), but it's worth the extra grubbiness to see how creative my girls can be with their snacktime.
