My post-baby body, four years later

Posted April 25, 2007
Dancing is one of my great loves. Before I was pregnant, I would take one or two modern dance classes a week. When I found out I was pregnant with twins, I switched to yoga and really enjoyed doing that, right up until a couple of weeks before I delivered.

I haven't exercised since. Really. Not in nearly four years.

My husband has kept up with his workouts as best he can, and he encourages me to take… Read More

Writing a recent post about taking our daughters to the Dan Zanes and Friends show the other day reminded me of something ...

Oh, national tragedy, I remembered. Flags at half-mast aren't just for political figures ... and all the thoughts of the Virginia Tech massacre settled back on my shoulders… Read More

The geography of bad news

Posted April 16, 2007
I drove to a tough section of Los Angeles this morning to report a story. Naturally, I was wondering about the safety of the location, wondering where I'd park, what to leave in the car, what to take with me. While driving, the news about the tragic shooting rampage at Virginia Tech hit the airwaves. Only then, that early in the morning on West Coast time, it wasn't a rampage, but a single death.

As the day ground on,… Read More

We're going to the zoo today! We've been looking forward to it all week.

Having a membership to the zoo has proven to be a cost-saving, strategic way to handle this favorite destination.

Today, we want to see how much the baby giraffes have grown, and with the membership, we don't feel pressured to go to the zoo and see absolutely everything. So, today, we'll see just the giraffes and maybe the zebras. We simply pick the things… Read More
