So, we've all seen some pretty elaborate birthday parties in our day. I've been to shindigs everywhere from roller rinks to bowling alleys, and know that -- for kids of this day and age -- even at-home parties often mean rental of a bounce house.

But Miley Cyrus is no ordinary teen. So for her sweet 16, the singing-acting sensation got to shut down Disneyland. (Note: Cyrus doesn't actually turn 16 until November 23.)

Joined by stars like Demi Lovato, Tyra Banks, Steve Carrell, and American Idol runner-up David Archuleta, Cyrus walked the purple carpet to her birthday 'do -- which was open to the public for the cost of $250 per ticket. An estimated 5,000 people attended.

Those who shelled out for the evening were rewarded with a Cyrus performance, complete with an opening act that included Justin Gaston, Cyrus' new (reported) beau (who has also been called just a friend in some reports); dad Billy Ray and sister Brandi. Miley's nearest and dearest sang several tunes, including Billy Ray's hit "Achy Breaky Heart." Then Cyrus, decked out with "Sweet 16" written on her back in gold, performed four songs, even doing her tune "Breakout" while on a boat in the park's Rivers of America. Guests also were treated to a fireworks display over Sleeping Beauty's Castle, Hannah Montana makeovers, and plenty of time to ride favorites like Pirate of the Caribbean and Thunder Mountain Railroad.

Asked about her best gift, Cyrus told People.com it was a new Maltipoo named Sophie.

The big bash was part of a Disney effort to promote its new "What Will You Celebrate?" initiative, which grants Disney guests free admission to the park on their birthdays. You can register your birthday and see photos and video from Miley's bash at the Disney Parks site.

The event also raised $1 million for Youth Service America.
