Miley Cyrus' next big screen appearance is one for the dogs.

April 9, 2008

Miley Cyrus already proved she's a matinee idol with her huge concert movie hit: "Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert". (Come on, moms, admit you saw this flick more than once...) Now, she's getting a chance to step behind the screens, with a role in Disney's fall release, "Bolt," an adventure about a dog named, yes, Bolt.

According to a press release from Walt Disney Pictures, "Bolt" is the story of a canine TV star accidentally shipped from his cushy Hollywood soundstage to New York City, launching him on a journey through the real world. Miley will voice the role of Penny, Bolt's human television co-star. Miley's joining some big names in the cast, especially John Travolta who will take on the title doggie role. The flick is schedule for a Nov. 26 release.

Disney also announced a slew of other family flicks, including "Up," a Pixar flick due in June 2009 from the director of "Monsters Inc.," a re-release of kid classic "Toy Story" ... this time in 3-D (due for October 2009) and the Christmas '09 princess tale, "The Princess and the Frog." The musical, set in Jazz Age New Orleans, will feature Disney's first African-American princess.

Way down the line (at least in kid terms...) are "Toy Story 2 in 3-D" (Feb. 2010), the highly anticipated "Toy Story 3" (June 2010), "Rapunzel" (Christmas 2010) and "Cars 2" (Summer 2012).

In the comments, tell us, which of these films are you and your kids most excited for? What kinds of parts would your kids like Miley Cyrus to play?
