So, over the weekend, one very lucky Family.com insider got to attend the big, big premiere of Warner Brothers' "Speed Racer," out May 9.

From the sound of it, families are in for a spectacular movie-going treat. Held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles (the spot's first-ever movie premiere), the event drew tons of celebs, plus thousands of kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Los Angeles County.

Said our intrepid insider:

"At first, the theater was so loud with excitement and cheers that you couldn't even hear the dialogue. But then, a little bit in, everyone just got ... completely into the movie."

Kids in the audience got really revved up for the comic antics of young actor Paulie Litt, who plays Speed Racer's younger brother, and his chimpanzee companion. Litt, who also appeared in Disney Channel's "The Wizards of Waverly Place," wore a tux to the very-casual premiere and was overheard saying, "This is the most casual tux I have."

Celebs in attendance brought their kids along for the wild ride. Spotted were Posh Spice and her boys; Ricky Schroeder and his family; Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon with their brood; Matthew Fox and his three kids; and "Speed Racer" producer Joel Silver and his family.

Our source says to expect Speed Racer mania to reach full throttle -- kids will be eager to get their hands on "Speed Racer" toys like Hot Wheels cars, and a new game for the Nintendo Wii.

Talk in the comments: Is your family ready to go, go, go see "Speed Racer"? When do you think you'll see it?
