We're telling ya, your kids are going to be making lots of "vroom" noises this summer.

Just in time for "Speed Racer" to zip into movie theaters on May 9, Nickelodeon is debuting a new "Speed Racer" cartoon series.

"Speed Racer: The Next Generation" debuts with a 90-minute premiere at 7 p.m. EST/PST Friday, May 2 on Nickelodeon.

According to a press release from Nickelodeon:

"The series follows Speed after he arrives at The Racing Academy only to find himself intimidated by his fast-paced classmates.  Armed with his new friends Conor, Lucy and Conor’s robot monkey, Chim Chim, Speed quickly lives up to his name and becomes the one to beat in the driver’s seat."

Vroom, indeed!
