I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Judy Blume, now 70 and a published children's author for nearly 40 years, at the Book Expo Friday with her latest work.

Aching back. Sore feet. The start of a blister.

Book Expo of America was fantastic! No, really, despite the assortment of ailments we returned with, wow! Anyone who calls themselves a book lover would find this event heavenly. The aching back and sore feet are results of carrying around totebags filled to bursting with book catalogs, book-related goodies and, yes, full-on copies of books that haven't even hit stores yet.

Sigh. If only every day was BEA day.

We're going to post a series of tidbits from the Expo and we chose that venerable writer of kid lit, Judy Blume, to start us off:

Speaking at the Children's Author Breakfast, Ms. Blume relayed some excellent advice for getting kids to read. (Take it from her, as she's not only sold more than 80 million copies of her books and raised three kids.)

When trying to get kids to read, Blume suggested the following: "Don't tell your kids to read your favorite books. Leave them lying around the house and let them find them."

Check back for more nuggets of wisdom.
