Book Expo Nugget #2: Neil Gaiman's Fave Kids' Book of the Year
2 |
The thing about going to an event like the Book Expo is that when you leave, there's only one thing you want to do.
Read.
Read.
And read some more.
As for what to read, well, the options are limitless, given the wealth of new stuff on the way or already on shelves. But then, an author like Neil Gaiman makes a book recommendation, and you can't help but really want to dive right in.
Speaking at the Children's Author Breakfast, Neil Gaiman, who's penned Coraline (and reads the audio book with his perfect-for-narration English accent) and The Dangerous Alphabet (with illustrator Gris Grimly) -- gave a massive nod to Cory Doctorow's book, "Little Brother."
Calling it a "life-changing book," Gaiman added it was the "best children's book I've read all year."
The novel, geared toward teens, is available on Amazon and also can be downloaded for free on Doctorow's site.
