If you haven't already heard, the hottest ZIP code in history is making a return to the small screen.

That's right, moms, Beverly Hills, 90210, is making a comeback.

Maybe due to the huge hit that is Gossip Girl, the folks at the CW have decided that those Upper East Side teens need a West Coast counterpart, and have picked up 90210 (an abbreviated title for our faster paced society, perhaps?) for this fall.

A few tidbits:

  • The official tagline: There's a new class at West Beverly Hills High...
  • Celeb moms Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth will be reprising their former 90210 roles -- as Donna Martin (now Donna Martin Silver... hmm) and Kelli Taylor -- on the new show.
  • The main character is Annie Mills, who just moved to Beverly Hills from Kansas City. (Echos of Brenda and Brandon, anyone?) Annie's dad has just accepted a job as principal of West Beverly Hills High. Her brother, Dixon, formerly was in the foster care system before being adopted by the Mills family. The best bit of casting, in my opinion, is Jessica Walter as Tabitha Mills, the kids' grandmother. She played Lucille Bluth in the too-shortlived (and not-at-all-kid-friendly) series Arrested Development.
  • The show is listed as being executive produced by Rob Thomas, who created one of the best teen shows of recent memory, Veronica Mars. It's unclear, however, if Thomas is involved only with the pilot episode or the entire series.
  • According to this video preview, the show will follow in Gossip Girl's designer-clad footsteps by not only telling the kids' stories but getting into the parents' dramas as well.
  • Perhaps the most exciting thing is the construction of an all-new Peach Pit in Beverly Hills. The Yo on E! blog posted photos-- the set appears to be in the real Beverly Hills, rather than a soundstage. I may just have to take a drive in that direction...

So, did you watch the original 90210? Are you interested in this new version? Are your kids old enough to get into this revival of that show? If you have teenagers, what television shows do they watch and which ones do you find yourself watching?
