Is Miley's New Album Too Mature?

Posted July 23, 2008
Miley Cyrus released her first album with no Hannah Montana connection yesterday. Titled Breakout , the album's tracks definitely veer into more mature territory.

Still, more mature for Miley seems like common 15-year-old stuff for any teen not living life in the spotlight. Check out these lyrics to "7 Things," rumored to be about Miley's ex, Joe Jonas of Jonas Brothers fame.

I probably shouldn't say this
But at times I

  • Movies I've never heard of that

So, yes, I urge you: Go bananas. (Sigh. Mondays.)

Ask a Librarian: Here Be Pirates

Posted July 11, 2008
Welcome to the second edition of Ask a Librarian. This week, I'm taking to the high seas with the following question:

"My kid is way into pirates. What are some good pirate reads for kids?"

I called on friend of Family.com, Catherine McCafferty, a youth services assistant at the Bethlehem Area Public Library and a pirate enthusiast, to answer.

Because pirates are well-liked across age groups, I asked Ms. McCafferty for… Read More
