I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

"Wimpy Kid" is anything but wimpy on the bestseller lists...

In case you haven't heard, it's Children's Book Week through May 18, so make a plan to head to your local library soon.

If you're looking for suggestions to check out, we're proud to report that three of Family.com's top books of 2007 made this year's list of Children's Choice nominees. Brian Selznick's "The Invention of Hugo Cabret" is up for best illustrations, while "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" writer Jeff Kinney is up for Best Author. (Of course, so is J.K. Rowling, for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.") (The Children's Choice winners will be named on May 14 so fingers crossed that some of our hits will win!)

"Wimpy Kid" is the one we want to call out the most, though. Parents report it's an excellent book for reluctant readers and, to prove it, the book has spent a year on the New York Times children's chapter book list. Better yet, Kinney already released a sequel, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Roderick Rules." If you need to know more, take it from commenter, erinntom:

"I always have to encourage my ten year old son to read. He very rarely is captivated by a book. Usually after a few minutes I hear "how much longer do I have to read". Both of these books he couldn't put down. I could hear him laughing and wanting to read funny things aloud to me. He really enjoyed both."

Now tell us: What books have gotten your non-readers to dive right in?
