Well it's my birthday too!  I'm 32.  We're celebrating here in California.  Well, me and the kids are celebrating.  Dave is busy logging billable hours back in Washington.

So far we've had a lovely vacation (aside from a nightmarish packed flight that included magic post-landing barf).  The weather is okay, not spectacular, but not the snow and hail we left up North!  Unfortunately, it's not actually warm enough for me to wear most of the clothes I bought last week, but that's okay.  I brought plenty of jeans.

Dave keeps asking me what I think of California now that we've been gone for nine months.  I keep trying to see it with fresh eyes, but given that I spent 90% of my life here, that seems impossible.  It looks like California to me.  The weather is obviously nice, but overall, I have zero regrets about our new life in Washington. Sure, living in a gorgeous California town like Los Gatos would be fantastic, but it would require more money than God and I can think of lots of places I'd like to live if I ever won the lottery.  But it's a nice place to visit!

For my birthday, I'm meeting up with three of my old girlfriends for dinner and drinks.  I mean, I could obviously spend the evening enjoying dinner with my two adorable kids and my parents, but who am I kidding, I deserve a mom's night out and that's exactly what I'm going to get.  If we were home, no doubt Dave and I would also be ditching the kids to go out together.

Is that bad?  That I'd rather spend my birthday away from my kids than with them?  Maybe so, but my kids are work, literally my JOB.  At least I'm honest!
