Because money doesn't grow on trees
New Year's Resolutions
1 |
It might seem early, but I'm already starting to think about some things I'd like to see happen (or happen differently) in 2008 for the Mandajuice family.
1. Wean the baby so she (finally! hopefully!) sleeps through the night. This will not only benefit me, the one whose been either breeding or feeding a child with my own limited personal resources since early 2003, but everyone in the family. When mama's well rested, everyone's happier.
2. Stick to the budget. I've been saying this one for YEARS now, but it's getting ridiculous. I plan to sit down and make a list of all the things we could do with the extra money we will have by this time next year if we follow our spending plan strictly. I hope that will help!
3. Eat healthier. I am extremely anti-diet (if the city ever hosted an ANTI-DIET rally, I'd be the one painting all the cardboard signs), but I want to incorporate more vegetables into our family's eating. Even when we eat junk, I think we'll all feel better if we do it with a side of broccoli.
4. Get outside more. It turns out I'm not really much of an outdoorsy person, but today I walked across the street with the baby to mail a letter and she LOVED it. In fact, when it was time to turn around and come home (because I was cold!), she had a full-on meltdown and I had to literally drag her kicking and screaming back into the house. There's no reason we can't be going for a walk every day!
5. More grown-up alone time. Dave and I haven't really solidified any babysitting arrangements since we've lived here, which means it's been over a year since we've seen a movie and we've only had a handful of "dates." It's good for us, though, so we need to work a little harder to make sure it happens.
How about you. Any early New Year's resolutions?

About Me
After seven years as a personal financial planner, I ditched the pantyhose to stay home with my toddler. Now I'm a 30-year-old mother of two and the author of Mandajuice and The Naked Ledger.
