Home is where the heart is (and the coffe maker)

On Saturday night, we returned home from our wild California adventure.  I love coming home; it's always one of the best parts of any trip.  This was the first time I ever got to come home to our HOUSE too, so it was extra special for me.  Have I mentioned how much I love our home?  It's good to know I'm still not taking it for granted, dirty floors and all.

Anyway, I'm sick now (of course I am!  I've never been on a plane without regretting it for at least a week), but here's a list of fun things I realized upon being home from our trip:

1.  There is a weird mildewy smell in the laundry room.  I have no idea what it is or how I never noticed it before, but it's definitely there.  I have a feeling something wet is looming under the washing machine and I'm SCARED.

2.  Right before leaving for the airport a week ago, I gave the kids a bath in our big tub.  I always shower while the kids are in the bath, since it's convenient and I can see and hear them through the glass shower doors.  While I was showering, Genoa reached up and grabbed an entire stack of washcloths to play with in the tub.  She ended up completely soaking virtually ALL of our washcloths, about 20 in all.  WHICH I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT before leaving and which were sitting in a disgusting wet pile when we got home.  Oops!  Unfortunately, this was NOT the source of the midlewy smell downstairs, only the source of the mildewy smell upstairs.

3.  I forgot to bring any razors with me on our trip.  I'm pretty sure my furry armpits now prove the theory of evolution.

4.  I'm not sure which I missed more: my husband or my coffee maker.

5.  I lost five pounds on my trip.  It has nothing to do with my mom's cooking, which was excellent as always.  It's just something I tend to do when I travel and don't have as much acess to constant snacks like I do at home.  Thank you gastric bypass surgery!  It makes me wonder how much weight I'd lose if I only ate three meals a day like a good girl.
