Clothes shopping, take two

I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

In the end, I did find some clothes yesterday!  First I perused the wares online at Old Navy, hoping to find some things I liked and could go pick up in the store.  Sadly, the only thing less flattering on me than a maternity top is a halter top.  I have pretty strict rules about how to clothe my admittedly fluffy physique: no cap sleeves, nothing "flowy", nothing that will make my already poochy tummy look pregnant, no tapered pants, nothing too baggy, nothing too tight.  I have a giant curly fro that I let run wild, so I often attempt to counter nature by dressing in clothes that have some structure (jeans, jackets that accentuate the waist, etc).  Pretty simple: I dress the body I have, not the one I wish I did.  Not conservative, just not too hippy dippy.  Too bad the clothing manufacturers think I should be shaped like a twelve-year-old boy.

Anyway, I remembered that a Steve & Barry's opened here a little bit before Christmas and I made use of my now abundant free babysitting (Grandma living across the street? How 'bout them apples!) and I ran down there to find that everything in the entire store, including Sarah Jessica Parker's Bitten line, was for sale for $8.98.  Every. Single. Item. was $8.98.  I found three shirts, a pair of jeans (for $8.98!), some cute hair ties (only $2 each), and even a couple pairs of pants for Alex to wear.  Now I can't tell you that this is some miracle of high fashion, but honestly, the quality seems as good as Old Navy and the styles were pretty cute.  I can't complain.  I'm looking forward to shopping there the next time I need clothes.

The only thing (aside from that formal dress I'll need in two weeks!) I can't seem to find is a pair of tennis shoes.  I want something fashionable and sleek, but not too loud, with comfort being the most important factor.  I can't find anything I like, not even for less than reasonable prices.  I'm starting to get desperate, too, since I'll need these to wear on the plane.  Otherwise it's Ugg boots and I don't think I'll want to put them back on for the plane ride home, not to mention taking them on and off all those times to get through security.

The kids are also set, methinks.  I found those two pairs of pants for Alex and he actually still fits some of his bigger t-shirts from last summer.  For Genoa, I was able to find enough two-for-$7 deals for shorts and tops.  I even found her an adorable plaid bathing suit.  Each kid also has two pairs of faux-Crocs, so shoe-wise, we're set until they get wear out those treads (I give them approximately three weeks per pair).
