A month of gratitude: Day 2 - HOME
0 |
The house is finally finished. Yesterday the final contractor came and went and left me with a fully restored home with beautifully clean carpets. They are white, though, so that clean feeling should last approximately three more minutes before the kids muck them up again.
So today's obvious piece of gratitude is for this house. Our home. I love it more than I have ever loved any edifice in my entire life. It's not that it's perfect, because it isn't; there's plenty left to remodel and change and fix. But every time I walk down that big swirly staircase, I feel like the luckiest housewife alive. I hope this feeling never wears off. After years of planning and saving and immeasurably hard work, we FINALLY have a house, a real home where we can raise our children. For the first time maybe ever, we have absolutely no plans to move any time soon.
Roots, people. We finally have roots. Today I am grateful for roots.
