Vacation, All I Really Wanted.

The vacation planning is going nowhere fast.
I've decided that one of my problems is that I put far too much pressure on myself to plan the perfect vacation. I guess it's only natural. The fewer the vacations, the bigger it needs to be - in my head, at least.
So, a week in a cabin turns into a summer long vacation at a lakehouse.
A weekend at the shore turns into a resort vacation in the Caribbean.
Are you getting the picture?
It doesn't help that Chris and I have markedly different ideas about what's fun. I want to see everything. Chris wants to relax. I'm not sure I know how to relax. Our great compromise in the past has been a cruise. I was convinced that I would hate a cruise - it seemed so ridiculously monotonous: sea and beaches as far as the eye could see. Boy, was I wrong. The wonderful bit is that we go from port to port, so that I can see everything. And Chris doesn't have to drive or unpack more than once, so he gets to relax. Perfect!
We've put off the idea of cruising while the children are small, figuring that they would have nothing to do. And then I saw a bit on the travel channel about Disney Cruise Lines. With one "whoa!" from Katie when she saw one of the onboard pools, I knew that it was worth investigating.
I know what you're thinking. You're thinking that since I write for Disney's family.com, I have some great incentive for promoting a Disney cruise. I wish! (Note to the great folks at Disney: I really do wish!) But no such incentive exists. I genuinely think it looks like a good option for us.
I shared this idea with Chris whose first reaction was to vote it down. A kiddie cruise? And then I told him about the babysitting services. And the adults only restaurant. Now, it's definitely on our list.
I'll let you know what happens.
