In today's mail were the three confirmations for the 529 plans that I set up last week. All of the accounts are now set up and ready to go.
This is the craziest part, though. Remember when I said that we couldn't afford to contribute lots of money to the plan so we were going to make incremental contributions? Those incremental contributions are fairly impressive. We've already pre-paid for 1/10th of a credit for each child, irrespective of the cost of the credit at the time that the child attends college. Pretty amazing.

I'm a big fan of my auto-payments to the Utah 529 for my daughter.
I haven't set it up yet for my son's Nebraska 529, and somehow I always forget to mail the monthly check for his account. You can't beat auto-pay when life is busy; good thing my son is young and I still have time to get my act together. :)

I just signed both my kids up, too. We're opting for a monthly payment plan. It's like a car payment. Without the car. But I feel so strongly I'll be better off later for having sacrificed now.
