A Spring in my Step.

My daffodils are blooming! I am so excited. This is the best time of the year, when the flowers are just peeking through. In just a few weeks, my garden will hopefully be a mass of random tulips and daffodils.
One of the cool things about being a gardener hobbyist is that spring really does bring surprises. I have no plot plan. There is no landscape diagram. I've planted bulbs around the yard throughout the years and what comes up, comes up. It is, at the same time, both chaotic and oddly satisfying.
Spring officially begins next week. In the northeast, it's been quite chilly up until last week. The stretch of warm weather we've had over the last few days has been a welcome change. I have spent every spare moment digging in the dirt and spreading mulch. Not to be outdone, the girls have been digging in the backyard, stripping ivy off of the walls and relocating many rocks to important spaces. Charlie has lounged on his blanket, attempting to eat sticks despite my best efforts to stop him.
These are the best days. When I look around and I see my children enjoying the outside the way that they do, when I can hear them laughing as they chase each other around, when I can see the splashes of color from daffodils that I planted... I know.
I hope you're taking a few minutes to enjoy spring, too. You won't regret it.
