I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

At my son's pre-school, the parents in different classrooms take turns hosting monthly "Teacher Appreciation" lunches. With them, parents are encouraged to sign-up for a specific dish that they bring in, all relevant to a central, celebratory theme. Herewith, a few tips I've picked up from spearheading a few of these lunches, for an assist if you're suddenly Parent-in-Charge (or eager to help out and participate):

Keep the theme familiar -- Parents can totally get behind Mexican Fiesta or Italian Picnic... even Hawaiian Holiday can be a hit. But it seems like the less available the foods are (read:  is there an aisle or freezer section at your supermarket devoted to that type of cuisine?), the less likely parents are to revel in the culinary celebration.

Provide recipes -- Sometimes, parents are super-keen to sign-up, they just don't have a clue how to make the dish that's on the list. Provide a gentle bit of help by supplying recipes for those who are enthusiastic in the kitchen but just need a little direction.

And on that note...
Hand out a cheat sheet -- Not everyone has the knack, wherewithal or desire to provide a home-cooked contribution. And that's A-OK... no judgment here! Let everybody know where frozen (preferably healthy) versions of the suggested meals can be found.

Because even parents don't mind learning a thing or two.
