A Movie "Museum" Exhibit

I love when a movie becomes more than just an "entertaining" experience for the kids. After they've seen a movie, I like to ask questions to help them think about the story, the characters, motivations, favorite moment, scariest happening, what made them laugh most and why... kind of like media literacy for the pre-school set.

But yesterday, I found an offshoot occurrence from a movie that I didn't expect (which can sometimes be the best!). Having seen "Night at the Museum" on DVD last weekend, Rocco had decided to turn his scores of Hot Wheels and Matchboxes into a museum exhibit in his room. He had figured out a way for his car cases to be opened and turned just-so to display the diecast autos, lining them up to be clearly seen and -- when appropriate -- to rev up in action. Then, he asked my wife to help him string -- across the width of his room -- related drawings he had created to frame the exhibit. It was a rather impressive tableau.

I half-way expected to be charged admission at his bedroom door.
