So tiny, so cute, so pink!

In the summer, when I carry a smaller purse, I don't have room to carry my camera.

So as any reader of this blog could see, I end up taking a lot of pictures with my cell phone camera - which frankly stinks. Most cell phone cameras are just checkboxes on a product features list, and the camera in my Motorola Q is no different.

But lately I've been really wanting to carry a camera everywhere I go. Out dancing with the hubby? Let's get a few shots of us and our friends all dolled up! Kids doing something adorable and spontaneous? Get a photo!

So I went out and started looking at small digital cameras. After all, mine - a 4.0 megapixel Fuji FinePix is a few years old and way too big by today's standards.

First off, I noticed how many more megapixels inexpensive cameras come with today! 7, 8, even 10! Now, I know five megapixels is enough to blow a photo up into an 8x10 size, but still...it's nice to know I could have a poster made if I wanted to.

Then I noticed how many cute colors cameras come in! And of course I decided I had to have the smallest pink camera I could find.

After trying a few and reading a bunch of reviews, I settled on the Casio Exilim, 7.2 megapixels, in pink. It was important to me that it have both an optical and digital zoom, a large screen for reviewing my pictures, and of course it absolutely had to fit in the pocket of my jeans - my TIGHTEST jeans!

Oh, and it had to cost little enough that if I destroyed it, I wouldn't feel horrible. If it's going to live in my purse and my pocket, there's definitely a chance it won't last for years and years. I paid about $180 for this camera. It would not feel good to break it, but I wouldn't be completely heartbroken either.

So far my theory has worked: I've taken it with me everywhere I've gone, and I've taken tons more pictures than I was before. I'm completely in love - so much so that I've decided to donate one to my kids' school auction - their only fundraiser for the year - so another mom can hopefully enjoy it as much as I do!
