Food find: 100-calorie Hostess Cupcakes

I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

I know it's a gimmick, I really do. But I also have to love all of these new "100-calorie" products.

Typically, you get a little taste of the good stuff in a cute little baggie, and it's enough to satisfy the craving for junk food before it turns into an entire package of Oreo cookies.

But I don't have too much of a weakness for Oreos or Doritos. For me...it's all about the cupcakes.

So when I saw that Hostess had created 100-calorie Hostess Cupcakes, obviously I had to check them out!

They come three to a package, and they're tiny, as you'd imagine three little bites that have to add up to 100 calories would be. But actually, they're not bad! And the fact that there are three of them helps, I think: for me, if it were one larger 100-calorie cupcake, I might be more tempted to have more than one.

But instead, I get maybe six bites if I'm conservative. It's basically the same Hostess cupcake taste everyone knows - and just a tiny bit of cream in the middle. I kind of wish there were a little more frosting on the top.

The cupcakes aren't health food! They're still high in fat (for being just 100 calories, that is) and sugar, and of course they've got all the processed whatever that long-shelf-life baked goods have.

I don't care, though - because if I can satisfy my chocolate cake craving in 100 calories, I'll take it any day!
