Dancing with...poles!

Posted July 10, 2007

If Oprah had a show on it, does it mean it's become mainstream?

When it comes to pole dancing, the answer, based on my friends' reactions, is emphatically no. (The guys made dumb jokes; most of the women said they admired me but could never do that.)

But when Angi Carlston of Divine Movement in Seattle invited me to come take a class and check it out, how could I possibly say no?

Well, easily - three years ago, before I lost weight.… Read More

Pedal power

Yesterday I had to be in Seattle twice, at two different times of the day: the morning for a birthday party and the evening for fireworks.

Then, we all participated in… Read More

Whenever my mother was frustrated with me during my teenage years, she'd openly wish, "I hope you have a child just like you!" I kept my mouth shut back then,… Read More

Please wear a helmet

The other day, while on her way to meet me for a bike ride, my best friend had a bike accident. A car turned left in front of her; she had the right of way, but apparently the car didn't see her. She slammed on her brakes and went over the handlebars, landing in the street on the entire right side of her body.

She was lucid, but in a lot of pain. She managed to reach her cell phone and call… Read More
