Last year he went as a "Construction Worker Guy"
Posted by: MandaJuice
We've been out doing a lot of shopping for the new house and everywhere we go, I see Halloween stuff. I can't tell you how impossible it is for me to resist it. I ADORE Halloween. It is hands-down my most favorite holiday. I love the costumes and the candy and the fact that it's such an oddball American tradition. Even the idea of walking around the neighborhood after dark has always been a big hit for me. Having kids has only added to my love of the holiday. Since I'm way too old to dress up and trick-or-treat, it's fun to live vicariously through my kids (and steal all their candy after they go to bed).
So it's basically going to take everything I have not to blow my entire house decorating budget on Halloween stuff. Have you seen those adorable pumpkins made out of twigs? I already have a blown-glass pumpkin collection started and I keep seeing them everywhere. I have to remind myself to wait until it all goes on sale November first. Now that I'll have a house large enough to actually display them, I might not be able to stop myself.
Today as we were leaving the craft store with goodies to finish decorating Alex's Cars-themed bedroom (coming soon to a blog post near you!), the saleslady asked him, "What are you going to be for Halloween?" and he immediately responded with, "I'm going to be a fireman with a cool backpack hose!"
Oh really?
Where am I going to find such a thing? If I had even a lick of costume creativity, I'd try to make him a backpack fire hose, but I am clueless as to where to start. Last year's costume spoiled me by being so easy: a "construction worker guy". We bought him some boots, a plaid shirt and a $.99 cent tool belt from the Home Depot. He was THRILLED and has continued to wear the costume as often I let him all year long. This fireman thing is going to require more than my usual last-ditch effort!
