My 7th grade daughter, 6 of her friends, and 2 other moms saw Twilight together. Bella seemed like a moody, unhappy teen, that fell "victim" to the "bad boy" attitude of Edward. She seemed too eager to go to the dark side, and was willing to leave everything for Edward. I personally thought it was way too sexual in content, even though "nothing happened". The sexuality between Bella and Edward was very steamy. There was a lot of scenes of them kissing and it was pretty hot. I am glad that I saw it with my daughter so that I could understand what the craze was about, but I think it was way too much sexuality for those pre-teens.

We went to see Twilight last night. I took all three of my kids. My kids ages are 9, 11, and 12. They all loved it. I was dying to see what all the hype was about and had even spoken to another Mother that said there were no sex scenes (which is my main concern). She told me the movie wasn't bad at all. It turned out to be an awesome movie and I am now looking into purchasing the books. I think the movie revolves around love, not necessarily lust. It was one of the best movies I've seen in awhile.

I love the Twilight series and think it's fine for tween girls. I rememeber reading some steamy Shidney Sheldon romance novels when I was 12 which were much more graphic and I turned out fine. I think fantasy is a long way from reality. Children and teens learn from example, not literature.

If I am ever unsure of a movie/book being suitable for my kids, I will watch/read it first to see just for myself if I think my kids would be able to handle it. I think that is one of the best ways to not be misunderstood.
