Mother's Day Tradition

I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Before I was married and had my daughter, I would meet my Mom and maternal grandmother for brunch at the beach every year on Mother's Day. For a couple years in a row we took a "three generations" photo in the garden behind the restaurant. After Grandma passed, Mom and I sort of stopped the tradition.

Then, when I had Annie, my husband and I started the tradition of having brunch near the beach and then taking a mother-daughter photo at our local public, rose garden. The first year - when she was 7 months - I struggled to hold her 20-plus pounds as I squinted into the sunlight. I look rather like I am hoisting a heavy sack of flour!

The next year, at a year and a half, she looks so grown up with pigtails. We sat in the shade that year because it was so warm.

And then work and life intervened and we skipped two years.

This year, I have vowed to renew the tradition.

I think it will be neat someday to look back at all the photos - taken (almost) every year in the same spot - and see how we've grown and changed. Well, more fun to see Annie grow up than to see myself grow older.
