You shouldn't have. No, really.
I spoke too soon.
The other day, I got a call from Jolie's school. Whenever I see that school number pop up in my cell phone caller ID, I break into a cold sweat. Did she fall? Get hurt? Sit on someone?
It was her teacher. Informing me that Jolie asked to sit on the potty three separate times that morning and once, produced some pee.
Super! What else happened? Did she fall? Get hurt? Sit on someone?
Her teacher thought that this excitement and interest should be followed up on, and that it may be time to BUY HER UNDERWEAR. Like, to put her in. Without diapers.
I started hyperventilating, thinking about accidents and running to the bathroom constantly with her, Of SERIOUS SOILAGE.
I chuckled nervously.
But I thought she might not be ready what with her four drops of urine each time and all. You know, maybe not physiologically ready?
"No, she's got control. I think she'll do this fairly easily. She's easily encouraged."
So, our instructions are to buy a boat load of underwear, pick a Saturday to start with (tentatively Memorial Day weekend), and put her in them. We are also to take her to the potty EVERY 45 MINUTES or so and to expect accidents.
Ah, yes, how I love anticipating accidents. Like anticipating lying on the beach on some tropical island with shirtless men fanning me with palm fronds. Can't wait!
I can't think of a better way to celebrate my first long weekend without having to work in eons.
Pray for us.
