momofDA- that's a hard one. It sounds like she's exercising her control of the situation. If she can hold it for hours...she's apparently physiologically ready but maybe not psychologically yet. Or maybe she senses that it would mean a lot for you for her to comply. (those kids are so smart and manipulative.) I would say- put it on hold for a little while, don't push the issue. Then try again later in a casual manner.

We have a Baby Bjorn potty chair that we used to offer to her before her bath. Sometimes she'd sit on it, sometimes not. And occasionally, she'd produce a teensy amount of urine to which we celebrated like we just won the lottery. She liked that feeling. And I have to add that the Dora Potty Book that we got was a hit. There's a button you press that makes a flushing sound and makes it seem fun. In the end, no child has failed to potty train...just on their individual time frames. Good luck!

I have to say I'm the mom of a 3yr old girl and candy, toys, trips nothing get her to go on the potty. I tried the 3 days of getting wet to get her to go - she would hold it for hours or tell me she didn't have to go while peeing on the floor. I tried the "cool alert" pull ups to get her to understand the sensation - she tells me when she is done. She RUNS screaming from the room everytime a toilet flushes - any new tricks?? I'm a full time working mom and I can only count on pre-school so much to help. Would love your thoughts!!!
