I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

I'm going to sit on this stuffed animal until you hand over that cookie.

Jolie, my daughter, loves to eat. On the one hand, this is good, since we've never had food battles, and I've never ever fought off the urge to stick a fork into the back of my hand in mental anguish.

On the other hand, I have a daughter whom I refer to as "sumo" occasionally due to her large but agile frame and rotund overhanging belly. (No, we do not place her hair in a top knot in the shape of the Gingko's tree leaf.)

Now, she's never been obese per the height and growth charts. She's just been in the upper percentiles for both height and weight. Proportionally a normal weight, or so we tell ourselves.

My fear is that she'll start moving off the charts and next thing you know, we're buying husky pants and putting her in more comfortable muumuus.

Does childhood obesity start this way?

By and large, she eats healthily, is very physically active, so maybe I'm just making a big deal about a "good eater". And I certainly don't want to give her an eating complex down the line by focusing on her all-you-can-eat-buffet-ness.

I keep telling myself that she eats what she needs. (And unless she has a satiety gene mutation, we're golden.)

Plus, thigh fat rolls are the best kind of carbs.
