The crime scene

It's been a long time since I've done a Potty Diaries installment (see end of post). Since we first went commando and put Jolie in underwear Memorial Day weekend, many months have passed. I somehow thought that potty training success was achieved over the course of a few months, yet, I'm reconsidering that as we still have our good days and bad days.

The good days are days that we pick her up from school/daycare and she is in the same underwear and pants as the ones we sent her in. I still am filled with a sense of triumph on these days. On the bad days, she's wearing her spare sweatpants or other pants, sometimes on backwards, and the clothes she was originally dressed in left in a sealed-for-freshness plastic bag in her cubby. DOH! This happens about 1-2 times a week, occasionally more often.

She's been pretty good though about telling us when she has to go while with us and we hardly have those kinds of accidents anymore.

What plagues us is nap time. Nap time on the weekends = pee in bed. It is the rule rather than the exception. Despite taking her to the bathroom right before nap time, she reliably wets her bed, triggering our usual cascade of pee containment actions including evacuating child and hose down, bed and bedding strip down and cleaning and new outfit donning. IT"S NO LONGER FUN. Okay, it never was fun but now it's SUPER OLD.

What I'm concerned about is that she would often wake up dry after nap or occasionially wake up dry in the morning after nearly 12 hours (we put her in a pull-up at bedtime), but now, this almost never happens. I'm wondering whether she is getting used to peeing in bed. Or *gulp* maybe she likes it. Granted, she takes a long time to fall asleep for her weekend naps (not a problem at school apparently) which increases the likelihood of an accident, yet, she can often go just as long while awake without having to use the bathroom.

We've been continuing to give the magic pee-pee candy after she goes in the potty (as much as I'd like a plan to wean her off of the M&M reward), but maybe we need another reward for waking up from nap dry.

I just hope we can get her a little more settled in proper pee etiquette prior to her baby brother's arrival in 7 weeks. Regression is not inevitable, right? Lord help us.
