I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Did I mention it talks to me?

I started exercising again. Yes. You heard me. Me. The one who is so aerobically incapacitated, hospital passerby look alarmed when I've just climbed up the stairs and start debating amongst themselves who would be the unlucky one to have to perform CPR. No more rock, paper, scissors, people!

My excuse has always been lack of time. Having a toddler eats up all my excess time and energy, and what with blogging, that has left me counting on my using the stairs instead of the elevator as my most cardio-protective activity all day. (Although everyone knows you need sustained activity to have any cardio-protective effect, I just lie to myself.)

But, I finally had enough of my poor fitness, especially in light of recent studies and the fact that I indeed used to be an everyday-exercising fit beast, I convinced JP that we should buy a piece of home exercise equipment. That way, while he runs in the morning, I could get in some exercise without leaving the house (which is frowned upon when you have a small child still in it.)

We decided on an elliptical, which tended to be my device of choice when I used to go the gym. I'm not a runner- something about my joints and the way they align is not right, and I usually end up with injury and joint pain. I need something lower impact than a treadmill and something that I'd actually keep up with.

My romantic idea of getting up before Jolie wakes up in the morning to exercise, though, appears to be a pipe dream. Can't. Wake. Up. Instead, I've been working out while Jolie watches her morning Wiggles, which is a lovely way to start the day.

So far, I've only made it to 20 minutes/day, but already, I feel like I have more energy and am less of a sloth. It was definitely a financial commitment, but honestly, I don't think I'll be making it to any gym in the next few years and I figure this is equivalent to a several-year gym membership.

And now, no more excuses. Off to locate my sweatband.
