I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Aside from two pediatrician check-ups, our soon-to-be 4-week old has not left the house. It's been so cold here and smack in the middle of winter, I'm filled with fears of viruses waiting to prey on him in any enclosed space.

I think his big sister Jolie made her first public appearance at 5 days old...but it was beautiful and April. I remember being out at the park with her, enjoying the fresh air together during the early weeks.

I've made some outings solo, while JL's been with my parents, which has been critical, I think, to maintaining my sanity and not going all The Shining on everyone.

I think JL needs to get out too. I'm a firm believer that fresh air is good for babies. (Just, not stale, recycled germ-filled air!)

It'll be nicer, though, this weekend, with highs in the 50's, and Jolie has a birthday party to go to that I don't want to miss while being holed up at home. We're planning to take him there and possibly brave our first public nursing show. That's one convenient thing about breastfeeding -- a meal is only a shirt-yanking-up away. (Not to fear: I am a discreet feeder)

I do believe my first stab at public breastfeeding with Jolie was in a communal Loehmann's dressing room. Hello! That's me in the mirror! Yes, I'm breastfeeding! Stop giving me The Stink Eye!

So maybe that wasn't the best place to nurse but she was HUNGRY and all the private dressing rooms were taken. Better than in the purse aisle right?

Anyway, I think we'll be fine, as long as we make sure JL's protected from germ-infested hands and out of sneeze and cough reach. We'll be armed with alcohol-based hand sanitizers, have him warmly dressed, and get ready for his social debut.
