Ryan Phillipe named his daughter after Frank Sinatra's great love, Ava Gardner.

Posted April 9, 2008 by Tommi Lewis Tilden

They may not have made it as a couple, but Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon did make two beautiful, healthy kids and both parents are said to be very hands-on in when it comes to raising them. Heck, the paparazzi shots alone speak volumes as to how much time they spend just hanging out doing "normal" things.

When it came to naming them though, it seems that Ryan had the say-so. The 33-year-old actor, who’s currently starring as a decorated Iraq war hero in "Stop Loss," recently told James Brady at Parade that daughter Ava, 8, is named for Frank Sinatra’s great love Ava Gardner. "At 18 or 19, I had an obsession with Sinatra. In my pickup truck, I always had his songs playing." And five-year-old Deacon is named after one of Ryan’s distant relations: "He pitched in the first-ever World Series, against the great Cy Young."
