New mom Nicole Kidman has caused a stir by naming her baby Sunday.

Posted July 7, 2008 by Lisa Weseman

Nicole Kidman and country-crooner husband Keith Urban welcomed their first child together today, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban. People reports the baby girl was born in Nashville, weighing in at 6 lbs., 7.5 oz.

Like many Hollywood parents, Nic and Keith chose to give their child an unusual name. And as usual, the press -- and the fans -- are already buzzing about the unconventional name choice.

On UsMagazine.com, baby name expert Pam Satran, coauthor of Cool Names and The Baby Name Bible, calls Sunday "really adorable and original" and says it rivals the originality of other famous baby names Shiloh and Suri (daughter of Nicole's ex Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes.) She adds that giving the baby both of their last names "is a signal that this is a marriage of equals."

The name Sunday could have special meaning to the couple as Sunday is a day of prayer in Nicole's Catholic religion. It could also refer to Whitsundays, an island chain in the couple's native Australia, where they recently celebrated her 40th birthday.

Some Nic and Keith fans aren't fans of Sunday, though. (Or at least not her name.)

Commenters across the web seem to think the name is silly -- but what do you think? Leave your thoughts in the comments section below.
