Former TV star Helen Hunt says she doesn't let her daughter watch TV.

Posted May 6, 2007  by Tommi Lewis Tilden with additional reporting by Audrey Turcot

Helen Hunt may have a couple of Emmys and an Oscar cluttering up her mantle but that doesn’t mean she wants her 3-year-old daughter Makena’lei to watch TV or movies.

Recently, while doing the promo circuit for her new flick, "Then She Found Me," which she directed and stars in, the 44-year-old wasn’t shy about denouncing the mediums which have long paid her bills.

"I’m not anywhere near letting her watch TV," the star told Redbook magazine. "I really think that’s not where the good stuff is for her right now."

And, as she explained to David Letterman during her first appearance on the "Late Show" since becoming a mom, she's hoping to "protect" her only child from the likes of herself -- and him. Dave was dubious, wondering whether lil' Mak will eventually wonder why she was forced to “miss out,” but Hunt held her ground saying that she’ll “worry about that when it comes.”

So, what does Makena'lei get/like to do?  "The good stuff is when she's gardening with her dad (“Dirt” creator, Matthew Carnahan) or baking with me.”
