Mom-to-be Jessica Alba wants only green goods for her baby.
Posted April 22, 2008 by Tommi Lewis Tilden
These celeb eco mamas don't need Earth Day to get their green on -- for them, it's matter of life -- and baby.
As we told you last week, new mom Halle Berry is reportedly obsessed with buying green for her baby girl Nahla Ariela Aubry with hubba-hubba beau Gabriel Aubry. But Halle's not the only one. Being green is also important to former "ER" (and "Life Goes On") star Kellie Martin, who ensures that 16-month-old daughter Margaret grows up eco-friendly by using Born Free bottles and sippy cups, Can You Dig It? organic cotton outfits and Haba wooden toys. Jennifer Garner dresses Violet Affleck in Soy! and Maggie Gyllenhaal buys organic cloth diapers.
Jessica Alba wants only green goods for her baby-to-be. For her recent shower, Alba registered at the tony Robertson Blvd's Bel Bambini, signing up for eco fare from baby skin care products to furniture and apparel. (The store carries Sage Creek Organics, Cariboo, and Born Free.)
Alba also reportedly gifted her shower guests, including Jamie King and Kim Kardashian, with Tastybaby recipe books and children's toys. Actress Elisabeth Rohm is another TastyBaby fan -- she catered her baby shower with a menu that incorporated TasytBaby foods including Hip2Bpear for the viagrette salad dressing, squash in the ravioli, and corn in the polenta. Yum?
Ecorazzi.com reports that Melissa Joan Hart recently gave birth to baby #2 -- all-naturally -- after her aforementioned pal Kellie Martin introduced her to hypnobirthing -- no epidural or inducing. Ouch. But Hart says the drug-free method was easier than the first time out -- "Last time I was unable to get out of bed for about eight weeks."
And finally, when Soleil Moon Frye recently welcomed second daughter Jagger (her first, Poet, is now 2) into the world, she didn't go far to eco-shop. The former "Punky Brewster" is part owner of a swanky Los Angeles eco-boutique called The Little Seed, which carries items like Stockmar organic crayons and paints, blankets and clothes by Nui Oranics, and cool Moroccan-made toys from Zid Zid.
For parents hankering to learn more about our kids and the environment, check out WeeGeneration.com, a site supported by Seventh Generation (safe products for babies), Healthy Child Healthy World (environmental education org) and BabyStyle boutique. Sheryl Crow, raising year-old-son Wyatt, is a fan of the site -- she's featured in a video message saying, "Thank you Healthy Child, Healthy World for teaching us that nobody can do everything, but everybody can do something."
Let's all do our something today.
