Ah, Sundays.

It was such a beautiful day yesterday.  It was warm, the sun was out, and not a cloud was in the sky.  A perfect day to play outside and soak up the beauty of it all.  Instead, I decided to stay inside and try to catch up on my scrapbooking.

It all started innocently enough.  After our honeymoon (almost seven years ago,) I made a scrapbook of our two amazing weeks in Europe.  I journaled about everywhere we went, everything we ate, and everything we did.  (Well, almost everything we did.)  I worked hard over an entire weekend to finish it, and I'm so grateful that I did.

Two years later when the Cheese Eater was born, I started scrapbooking again.  I took great care in making beautiful scrapbook pages of all of his precious milestones.  I even kept up with it regularly, never allowing myself to get more than a few months behind.

When the Bald-headed Monkey was born, I suddenly had a scrapbooking problem.  The Cheese Eater's first three years were recorded in these elaborate photo albums, so it would be unfair not to do the same thing for baby #2.  I started scrapbooking the Monkey's first three years.  But what was I to do about all of the things that the Cheese Eater was still doing?  And what about everything we were doing as a whole family?  Was I supposed to do three scrapbooks--one for each boy and a family one as well?  I don't think so.

That would have been fine if all I wanted to do was scrapbook every, single day for the rest of my life.  Not to mention the financial cost of it all.  One year when the Golfer was itomizing our receipts for our taxes, he showed me the massive stack from the scrapbook store.  I smiled and asked if there was any way to write it all off somehow.  He wasn't smiling as he walked away.

Now I try to keep up with two scrapbooks--one for the Monkey's first three years and one for the whole family.  So, in one year I'll only have one scrapbook to keep up with.  Except that I am a solid year behind, so it will be more like two years.  Maybe it will go a little faster since I can't remember many details to do much journaling.  Oh, well.

I'm not sure if ANYONE will EVER appreciate all of my hard work, except maybe one day I'll have daughter-in-laws that will.  For now, I'll just spend random Sundays scrapbooking our memories away.
