Moving on...

So after thirty long days (and I do mean long), we are finally taking possession of our new house today. This is the third house that I've bought in my adult life, and I have to say that it has been the most stressful. But, as I have heard it said before, "to whom much is given, much more is required."
I can now safely say that I officially hate packing. We have now moved three times in the last two years, and I am tired of it and I don't want to EVER DO IT AGAIN! Why have we moved so much you ask? Let me explain.
When we moved 1500 miles away from all of our family and friends two year ago, we decided to rent a townhouse because 1) we didn't know if we would be here permanently, and 2) because we could barely afford to rent in California, let alone buy. Our move happened quickly, so we picked out a place to live sight unseen. I know, it wasn't our smartest move ever, but sometimes you have to make dumb decisions to learn hard lessons. It looked great online, but when we actually arrived at our new townhouse, it wasn't so great.
So we stuck it out, and after our year lease was up, we moved again. With housing prices still sky high, we again decided to rent. We moved across town to a better area with an excellent elementary school for the Cheese to attend kindergarten. Still a townhouse, still small, still no yard. But, we had high hopes for the future, especially once the Golfer's job situation became more secure.
Then the housing crisis hit. Costs of homes started to drastically drop, especially where we live. It has been horrible for so many people and I feel badly for those people that it's negatively affected, but it has turned out really good for us. We had waited and been patient and were finally being rewarded.
So here I sit, once again surrounded by boxes, completely embarrassed by the amount of stuff that we actually own. I'll find any excuse possible not to pack, like writing a blog about not wanting to pack, anything that will delay the inevitable a little longer. I tried to start packing up some of the boys' toys, but it's pointless since everything I pack they keep unpacking (or suddenly deciding that they can't live without for the next week.)
It's enough to make you want to leave for a vacation...which is exactly what I'm doing in two days!
Yes, again I know how crazy it sounds, but this trip was planned way before the house was. So now I've got to pack, both for our move and for my trip. And as most stay-at-home-moms out there, a trip alone with my husband is a rare thing, and I'm not about to give it up--house or no house. In reality, the break from the chaos will bring me back refreshed and raring to go...I hope.
