"Awe-some!"

Posted March 18, 2008

Yesterday I did something that I've never done before--I bought baseball cleats.

The Cheese starts T-ball next week. We signed him up through our city's parks department. One hundred bucks gets you a spot on a team, a team T-shirt, and a trophy at the end of the season. I made sure to turn in his paperwork early. Last year I found out the hard way that you have to think ahead about these things. I tried to sign him up a month after… Read More

A home to love

Posted March 12, 2008

We've bought a house!

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that we were in the process of looking for a new home. Not only did we find one, but we found one at a great price! I love finding a bargain, and house hunting is no exception.

We are so excited about the idea of living in a house again, especially because we are gaining almost 1,000 square feet. The boys, who have been sharing a bedroom, will each have their… Read More

Potty training, continued

Posted March 08, 2008

Disclaimer: This post is filled with potty talk. Beware of lots of mommy talk about pee-pee and poopy.

Not to jinx anything, but it has been several days since the Monkey's has had a potty-training accident. And yesterday, he even went to school with big boy pants and came home dry.

At the end of the Cheese's parent/teacher conference at school today, the teacher asked me if I had any questions.

"Do you notice him getting overly emotional ever?"

Lately we've been having trouble with the Cheese crying at the drop of a hat. If he doesn't get his way or you do something like tell him, "Just a minute" he will instantly burst into tears. Not something that you normally expect from a 6-year-old.

His teacher told me yes; he had issues with… Read More

"Do you need to go potty?"

Posted March 03, 2008

I am in the throes of potty training. I can safely say that potty training is my least favorite party of motherhood. I'm simply not very good at it.

I will put my 3-year-old in big boy pants at the beginning of the day with the instructions, "Okay. If you feel like you need to go pee-pee what do you do?"

"I go to the big boy potty."

And then we go off about our morning, eating Cheerios and sippy coffee out… Read More

Six years ago...

Posted February 27, 2008

I can't help but think about what I was doing six years ago today.

It was the day after I had given birth. I had spent a restless night trying to sleep off the morphine and other drugs I had been given before my surprise c-section. Guess it was a good thing that I was knocked out cold, because I was unaware of the complications with my new baby.

It was while he was in the nursery, being cleaned off and checked… Read More
