I found this helpful Thank You! Your vote will be tallied soon!

Today the temperature inched up into the 90's, with the sun beating down on us and the humidity making the air heavy and sticky. It served as solid proof that summer is here and reminded me of my need to stay stocked up on sunscreen.

For Cordy and I, sunscreen is a must. Oh sure, dermatologists will tell you that everyone should wear sunscreen, and they're right, but my daughter and I can't go outside without a good coating. We're fair-skinned. Blindingly white. Ghostly pale. Put us in the sun with no protection and we'll turn red in under ten minutes. I remind anyone who baby-sits Cordy that she will burst into flames without sunscreen. OK, I exaggerate, but only a little.

I hated sunscreen as a kid. It was goopy and left my skin feeling sticky and greasy. Because of this, I often "forgot" to put it on, and suffered many a sunburn as a result. Cordy hates having any kind of lotion put on her, saying it feels "yucky". She's also terrified of the spray-on sunscreens. Not wanting to risk skin cancer with my child, I've tried several sunscreens to find the one that feels best on her (and my) skin.

My new favorite sunscreen is the Aveeno Continuous Protection sunblock. First, it doesn't feel greasy or sticky. In fact, after putting it on, my skin feels smooth and soft. The scent isn't overpowering either, with no added fragrance. Part of the reason it makes my skin so soft is thanks to the addition of oatmeal, soy and vitamin E. It's also safe for babies over six months old.

But beyond the feel, this sunblock also does the job it's supposed to. It is formulated to not break down as fast as other sunscreens do. This means you don't have to reapply as often, and you can feel safe knowing the sunscreen isn't slowly losing its effectiveness. It also protects against UVA and UVB rays.

I love having a strong sunbock that not only keeps my pale skin safe, but also doesn't feel like I'm wearing a sunscreen shell over my skin. Cordy still fights sunscreen applications (although it doesn't feel "yucky" anymore), but with the Aveeno sunblock I can at least apply her sunblock and then cuddle her without sticking to her.
