Arrrr - A Costume Has Been Chosen!

Posted October 03, 2007

Halloween is only a few weeks away, so the urge to find costumes for the family has increased dramatically. My husband is still sure he wants to dress up as a Jedi from Star Wars. I had planned to make his costume, but I'm now not sure I'll have the time to finish the outfit. But we still have most of the month, so I might find the time to complete it.

Mira's costume is ready to go. Since my husband wants to be a Jedi… Read More

Switching to a New School

Posted September 30, 2007

At the beginning of the summer, we enrolled Cordy in a summer preschool program for two days a week. It was hard on her, but slowly she adjusted, and by the end of the summer, I could take her to school and leave her there without tears.

However, last month Cordy began the evaluation process for developmental delays. The school district determined that Cordy has delays in social-emotional, communication, and adaptive behaviors. They told me that, based on the testing,… Read More

Four Months and Still Breastfeeding

Posted September 26, 2007

Tomorrow, Mira will be four months old. It's hard to believe that it has been that long, yet at the same time it feels like she's been a part of our lives forever. And tomorrow, I'll celebrate not only four months of life outside the womb, but also four months of breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding wasn't a success with Cordy. After she was born, she had a lot of trouble trying to feed. She would latch on for a moment, realize she wasn't… Read More

Party Like A Three Year Old

Posted September 23, 2007

I'm spending the evening recovering from Cordy's birthday party. She turned three on Friday, and today we had roughly 25 people crammed in our house to celebrate with a Dora theme.

The morning started off rough. Cordy was cranky, we were hurrying around the house cleaning, and we had friends stay the night. Pretty much anything that could trigger a meltdown, did. Several times my husband and I would tell Cordy, "Today's your birthday party!" and she would respond, "Noooo....today not Cordy's… Read More

Halloween Decorations: Tree Ghosts

Posted September 20, 2007

Last weekend my husband and I braved the black hole known as our garage to look for our Halloween decorations. Buried in the piles of junk was a medium sized box containing all of our decorations.

Even though we love Halloween, we don't have a lot of decorations. We've only owned a house for three years, so we've tried to buy one or two new decorations each year. With our current financial situation, we couldn't afford fancy cackling witches or big… Read More

Dealing With A Very Early Riser - Help!

Posted September 17, 2007

Cordy takes after her dad in many ways. She shares many of his dislikes, she is fascinated with Star Wars lightsabers, they both have food allergies, and of course, she has his curls. But she shares one other trait with him: she's an early riser.

Even as a baby, she was up for the day bright and early. She slept very little during the day (she was known as "that baby who doesn't nap" at daycare), and went to bed early.… Read More
