With further evidence that the maternal brain shrinks during pregnancy, I have now expanded the pool of witnesses to my mental decline.
My college roommate is in town for a visit and it's a bit like a Three's Company reunion since she my husband and I spent so much time together in college. I'm not sure if the walk down memory lane is making me feel old or young again. In either case, it's a lot of fun. I told her I had a blog but that I had to jot down notes for myself for my blog whenever something strikes me as funny because I otherwise forget about it two minutes later and then I sit down to write and feel like a loser because I can't think of a single thing that has happened recently.
Last night we spent a quality evening watching Tivo reruns (a warning to all you gals thinking of visiting your lethargically pregnant college roommate; this could happen to you). The House episode we watched had a guest appearance by Dave Matthews. My husband said "Didn't we go to a Dave Matthews concert?".
I, suspecting which venue he was thinking of said, "Um, I don't know, was it Hootie and the Blowfish?". He looked at me incredulously like I had suggested we went to a Barry Manilow concert, and said "No, Amy, it wasn't Hootie.". Ok, I'm incredibly out of touch and had no idea what Hootie even sings but I seemed to recall there being some sort of side kick or band with the performer we went to see. So I said, "Well, what's the name of Dave Matthew's band?".
My husband and college roommate looked at each other before breaking into laughter. "Yeah, his band is THE DAVE MATTHEWS BAND" my roommate managed. "Where's that notebook of yours?"
