I went ten rounds with a 3lb fetus last night.   I'm pretty sure the fetus won.

I remember being mostly delighted with feeling the baby move during my first pregnancy.   It was magical.   Every now and then, there would be a sharp kick that would get my attention but I don't have any recollection of feeling battered and bruised like I am this time.    It's not the baby's fault, but maybe me being four years older makes a difference.   I feel under full out attack from this rambuctious little fetus.   I'm not totaly kidding when I say I worry he might rupture some important organ or break out of his little sac.   All too often you will find me suddendly doubled over from a strong elbow to the diaphram, a stomping of my left kidney or a series of sharp kicks to the ribs.   Sometimes I have to try dramatic shifts in position to try to throw the little guy off balance and buy myself a few seconds reprieve.

I should have know when I felt his early flutterings at 14 weeks- a full two months earlier than with my first, that I was in big trouble.

Initially I was also concerned being so strong and so active meant I was going to have some sort of spastic child that never stopped moving after birth.   While my first isn't exactly sedate, he isn't hyper like some young boys are.    Then I read about some twins and how it was so surprising that the one that moved all the time in utero was the really laid back one after birth and vice versa, and that made me feel better.

Still...I have to get through the next few months somehow.   I wonder if they sell little restraint jackets for fetuses?   I'm definitely keeping this baby's security deposit when his lease ends.   I suspect I will have lots of damage to repair.
