We bought the house!

Posted August 13, 2007
After a seemingly endless weekend of waiting for the mortgage broker to return my call, we finalized the contract on the house this morning. The sellers made us an awesome deal - they accepted our initial offer as long as we could close escrow by the end of August, which means we have three short weeks until the house is OURS!

The process of chosing the loan was no easy feat. For the last two months, we've been actively… Read More

Cry It Out

My post today is part of Family.com's Comment Mania! Contest. Basically, they'll give a prize to the person who leaves the best comment this week (on the full article, not this blog post), so be sure to go over there and check it out! Here's a sampling:

That offer expires today and we've never heard back on it, so it's obviously dead on the vine. By the time we called the agent to tell her we were making an offer, The Repo… Read More

No Bratz dolls in our house

Posted July 29, 2007
Two years ago I wrote a post about an offensive t-shirt I saw in a local shop window. It was one of those stores where young girls can have makeover parties and get their hair and makeup done. The shirt read, "Math makes me dizzy," a phrase that still makes me cringe, particularly since math is so key my profession as a financial planner. The idea that pretty girls don't have to worry about having brains still makes my blood… Read More

In a couple of hours, we're heading to the Realtor's office to draw up our offer on the dream house. We've been back and forth all week about the Homeowner's Association documents and whether or not we even have a copy of the correct ones. It might not seem like all that much of a hang-up, but we really want to make sure that we'll have at least some freedom to what we want with the house and the yard.
