Dinner on a Deadline

I've got chapters for a book, Streetwise Event Planning, due in a few days and when I'm on a deadline, Lori sometimes has to take over supper duty. She believes that a) she can never time a meal right, and b) the kids only like what I cook. I've helped her through this meal paranoia by a) letting her cook whatever she wants and b) giving her a time chart for menu prep.

When little Rocco said he didn't like spinach anymore, I took it hard. Like, really hard. I had always made it a particular (some would say pathetic) point of pride that my son ate vegetables with glee. Carrots? Check. Peas? A snap. Broccoli? He requested a broccoli shake once... honest.
