Dan Zanes and Friends

While standing in line at Starbucks the other morning, waiting for my usual grande non-fat chai, I browsed the CD selection.  Now, usually I don't fall into the trap of these impluse purchases.  But Dan Zanes new CD, Catch That Train, sure did catch my attention.

I had seen Dan Zanes before on both Noggin and Playhouse Disney, and Neal Pollack even talks about him in his new book, Alternadad, that I am currently reading.  This Dan guy suddenly seemed all over the place.

So, I went ahead and splurged on the CD, and I'm telling you--it was worth it.  My kids love to listen to this in the car.  They beg for their favorite song, "Choo Choo Ch' Boogie", yelling, "Again! Again!" the moment the song ends.  And with lyrics like these, can you blame them?

Choo-choo, choo-choo, ch'boogie
Woo-woo, woo-woo ch'boogie
Choo-choo, choo-choo ch'boogie
Take me right back to the track, Jack!

As the jacket cover states, "In every car of the train there's music being made, sometimes quiet, sometimes rowdy, familiar, funny, or groovy."  Catch That Train is filled with music that kids love and parents can endure.  (I really don't mind listen to it.)  Anything that wins a Grammy for best muscial album for children and Parents' Choice Gold Award winner has got to be pretty darn good!
