There's Never A Sick Day In Parenting

Posted December 08, 2007

It all started over a week ago, when one of Cordy's classmates at preschool was sick. He passed the stomach bug onto the entire class, and last weekend Cordy was suffering from it. I tried everything to disinfect and prevent the bug from going any further, but I failed. Very early Wednesday morning I woke up with a horrific nausea, and it only got worse from there.

My mom was already scheduled to come visit that day, originally to give… Read More

Baby Gifts: Clothing For The Bottom Half

Posted December 03, 2007

To help find a unique gift for the baby who has everything, I'm going to feature some of my favorite products over the next week. To start, I'd like to cover clothing. Unlike older kids, babies and toddlers are still too young to rip open a box and then whine, "Not clothes! I wanted a toy!"

I have far too many clothing picks to cover in one post, so I'm going to cover the bottom half this time, and later get… Read More

When Holiday Gatherings Are Difficult

Posted November 28, 2007

I love getting together with family during the holidays. Big family gatherings aren't so… Read More

In that case, I recommend buying a one-of-a-kind handmade gift. Now is the time of year for the thousands of craft fairs being held in every school gymnasium and county fairgrounds across the country, where it's hard to not find something for everyone on your… Read More

Homemade Holiday Gifts

Posted November 21, 2007

A recent study said that the most popular gift this year will be gift cards. Really? Are we now so lacking in creativity that we are unable to think up a gift that a family member might like? Or is it that we are too afraid to risk offering up a gift that the receiver might not like?

Let's just ditch that fear, shall we? I'm a big fan of homemade gifts. If it's a gift that the giver actually put… Read More

Celebrating Christmas and Hanukkah

Posted November 19, 2007

In our house, we never have to fight over which family gets to see the girls for the holidays. There's no trading off, doing one year with my husband's family and one year with my family. We escaped this holiday nightmare because my husband is Jewish, and his family celebrates Hanukkah, while my family celebrates Christmas.

While we certainly didn't marry because we'd get two holidays in December, there are advantages to our situation. Both sets of grandparents get ample time… Read More
