So as I said in my previous post, we're now trying to renovate our junk room and transform it into Miranda's nursery. But that room isn't the only thing I want to transform at the moment. Now that I'm four weeks postpartum, I'm slowly starting to take stock of the shape of my body and the damage left behind by my pregnancy.

My first pregnancy, I gained 20 pounds total. After Cordy was born, I lost that 20 pounds very… Read More

The Junk Room Nursery

Mira has been with us for three weeks now, and is doing very well. She has a lot of comfortable places to rest, including a bouncy seat, a swing, and a co-sleeper bassinet. She still doesn't have her own room, however.

The picture to the right was taken today. That is the current state of the room that will one day be her bedroom. It was once my husband's game room/library, but then it slowly was taken over by… Read More

The Right Father's Day Gift

Posted June 17, 2007

Like many others across the US, we celebrated Father's Day today. We didn't have any special plans, and for the most part, the day was just a regular day. But my husband did get a card, got to pick where we went for lunch, and had every right to expect a gift.

The benefit to watching those types of programs isn't just in the content, although I admit that does play a part. She will have plenty of time in her… Read More

You Can't Choose Your Neighbors

Posted June 10, 2007

Our neighborhood is full of kids, many of them elementary school age or younger. Yet Cordy isn't friends with any of them. There are probably some nice kids her age a block or two over, but the kids who are closest to us have proven to me time and again that they are not good influences. Specifically, the kids next door are terrors.

Our next-door neighbors have four children. The youngest is six months older than Cordy, and the others are… Read More

Product Review: Boppy Bouncer Seat

Posted June 06, 2007
So far, Mira is proving to be a baby who loves to be held. Constantly. And while I'm happy to oblige most of the time, there are many times where I need my hands free, such as going to the bathroom, showering, eating, or just because I need a break. But this movin' and shakin' baby doesn't want to be left motionless, not to mention leaving her on the floor with an active (and jealous) toddler might be a bad… Read More
