Eating Like A Breastfeeding Mother

Posted August 05, 2007

You know those weird eating contests you see at county fairs and on Japanese game shows?

The ones where people have to eat as many hot dogs, hamburgers, sushi, or whatever until only one is still eating? And some of the guys are national or international eating champions, even going so far as to train for competitions.

Yeah, I think right now I could take them all.

I am honestly hungry all the time thanks to breastfeeding. When I wake up… Read More

Two Months Old, and Sick Again

Posted August 01, 2007

Mira had her two-month check-up last week. She's growing perfectly - she weighs 11 pounds, 12 ounces. She's nearly 24" long, and like her sister, she's already got a big head.

But unlike her sister, she's already battling her second cold. The poor thing is sniffly and coughing and obviously feels miserable. Her little cries have become hoarse and squeaky, and her cough often wakes her from a deep sleep. Thankfully she doesn't have a fever this time, so there will… Read More

My Daughter The Socialite

Posted July 30, 2007

This weekend I was in Chicago for the BlogHer '07 conference. But we don't live anywhere close to a beach, and there are several days I don't feel like leaving the house. Earlier this summer, we considered buying a sandbox, but the idea of sand in every crevice of my toddler wasn't an exciting one. I… Read More

Hitting The Road With Kids

Posted July 22, 2007
This Thursday we'll be packing our Hyundai Tucson as full as it can be, piling ourselves into it, and subjecting ourselves to a six-hour drive to Chicago. I'm going to the BlogHer conference (a women's blogging conference), and the entire family is coming with me. I went to the event last year when it was in San Jose, but I went alone. This year, however, I have a newborn who needs my breasts every 2-4 hours,… Read More

I Miss My Childless Friends

Posted July 18, 2007

My husband and I have a lot of friends scattered throughout our state. Some of these friends live up to two hours away, making it difficult to see them with any frequency. We get together when we can, but we're lucky if we see them once a month.

So you would think we spend a lot more time with friends who live in our city, right? Wrong. Most of our friends who live in the same city are childless, and for… Read More
